Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski is not leaving Borussia Dortmund, according to manager Jurgen Klopp
It has been highly expected that the striker will be following his teammate Mario Gotze out of Dortmund, and possibly to Bayern Munich this summer, however Klopp insists that he will not be going anywhere.
The Polish international finished second highest goal scorer in the Bundesliga and the Champions League this season, and has been linked with a move away from the club since his sensational four goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, which set up their clash against Bayern at Wembley.
Klopp was asked if any clubs were in talks to sign Lewandowski, but Klopp remained certain that his key man is stay at the Westfalenstadion.
“There is no topic of Lewandowski’s transfer right now,” Klopp told Polish newspaper Przeglad Sportowy.
“The rest of the team and I talk and think only about the final right now.
“My conclusion is that Robert is not leaving Borussia, and he will play here for the next season and I will be able to use him. That is why I don’t want to even think about to which club he may fit better.” He continued.
Klopp took the time to also praise Right-back Lukasz Piszczek, as he believed that the Pole had been their best player all season.
“All of my Polish players did their best and played a great part in our success, but the greatest and the best season was had by Lukasz Piszczek. I know only a few players that with his health problems could keep such high level.”
A number of Premier League clubs had emerged as contenders to sign Robert Lewandowski, however Klopps comments are set to put some of them off moving a move for the player.
It is rumored that Manchester United were preparing a £25 million bid for the player following Wayne Rooney’s transfer request.
Chelsea have now became favorites to sign Rooney, as they look to replace Fernando Torress, who they are speculated to be ready to offload following his failure to live up his £50million move from Liverpool.
However, it has now been speculated that Chelsea are now also favourites to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid following Jose Mourinho’s imminent arrival.
This was announced after former Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon dismissed United’s chance of re-signing the Portuguese international.
Calderon told talkSPORT: “Ronaldo said he was sad at the beginning of the season. I think the relationship with the current president is not a good one, maybe because the president doesn’t like the players he inherited.
“There are not many teams that could afford to pay him what he deserves and who can pay Real Madrid what they are asking for. There are three clubs – Manchester City, PSG and Chelsea. I don’t think any other club is going to pay that amount of money for a player.
“They [Real] are going to negotiate the contract now and they will make a decision. It’s something we will know in a few weeks
Ronaldo is set to cost around £80 million, whilst Mourinho also seems eager to bring in Cavani as well as Rooney, Lewandowski and Ronaldo.
