Manchester United target Turkish under-20 Midfielder

Manchester United are hot on the trail of Turkish under 20 star Salih Ucan.

The young midfielder is currently starring for his country at the U20 World Cup where he has helped Turkey to the last sixteen of the tournament and a showdown with France. The midfielder scored a goal and assisting one in the win over El Salvador.

The Fenerbahce starlet is highly rated in his homeland and it would take a sizable offer for the Turkish side to begin talks on a transfer. The player, one year into a five year contract only joined the club last season in a €1.5million from Bucaspor, is believed to have a €20 million release clause in his contract.

The Fellaini-esque haired midfielder scored 4 goals in 24 games for the yellow canaries helping the club to a second successive Turkish cup.

Ucan is not only rated as one of the brightest prospects in Turkish football but in European Football with UEFA describing the player as one of Europe’s rising stars, “With goals to his name in domestic and European football already, the teenaged midfielder couples his enviable vision and skill with a penchant for the unexpected.”

United’s interest in the player was confirmed via an unusual source with Former Sivasspor manager Muhsin Ertuğral telling Lig TV “Manchester United are scouting Salih Uçan, Quinton Fortune informed me that they are keeping tabs on him,”

The 36 year old Fortune would appear to have inside knowledge especially as the former United winger is currently back at the club working with the reserve team as he completes his coaching badges.

Meanwhile David de Gea is in line for a big pay rise following his impressive form last season.

Barcelona are admirers of the Spanish star and have earmarked him as a replacement for the soon to depart Victor Valdes however United are ready to ward off any potential interest in the former Atletico Madrid stopper by rewarding the keeper with a new bumper contract.

The 22 year old currently earns a reported £55,000 a week but that is set to jump up to £75,000 under the new terms.
