PSG want Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye

PSG are looking to make Yohan Cabaye the first signing of Laurent Blanc’s reign as manager.

The Newcastle player-maker has emerged as the big spending French sides main target during the summer transfer window and are set to approach the club with a sizeable offer.

That offer is likely to be rejected but there is a growing feeling in the North-East that it will only be a matter of time before the Parisians meet the club’s valuation of the midfielder.

The former Lille midfielder enjoyed a successful debut season in England with a number of eye-catching performances and was linked with big money moves to Manchester United and Chelsea.

However last season Cabaye struggled with form and injuries and looked a shadow of the player, especially in the second half of the season, from the one which took the Premiership by storm 12 months earlier.

Despite his personal woes, the 27 year old still managed to make 25 Premier League starts last season scoring 6 goals and assisting in two.

The French International has been capped 22 times for the national team and has also been linked with a move to another big spending French side, Monaco.

However according to France Football the Newcastle no.4’s final destination could be Paris with the issue being how much Alan Pardew and Joe Kinnear requires before doing a deal.

Any money from the sale of Cabaye would be used to fund a double raid on St Etienne with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and defender Kurt Zouma targets for the club.

Aubameyang has been linked with a £15 million move to St James Park and the want-away striker did his prospects of a move no harm last week as he talked up a move to Newcastle saying “I will choose England before any other destination. My dream has always been to play in one of the top two leagues in the world.

“Newcastle is a good club and St James’s Park is a monumental stadium where there is passionate fans.”

Zouma meanwhile is rated one of the best young defenders in European Football has been linked with a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool and AC Milan.
