Lewis Jones has revealed his guilty pleasure: betting on Strictly Come Dancing. He’s decided to go public with his love for a punt on the BBC1 hit-show and thinks he’s onto a winner with this 7/1 poke….
This year’s Strictly Come Dancing has been dominated by women thus far. Actress Natalie Gumede and newsreader Susanna Reid are strong at the head of the betting, and rightly so at this stage, but an outsider is coming up on the outside and has been ignored by the markets.
STRICTLY COME DANCING – FREE BET OFFER
PADDY POWER EXCLUSIVE!
Free £250 Bet to spend on BBC Show
Paddy Power have announced they are offering free bets worth £250/€250 to customers to spend on the winner of Strictly Come Dancing this week as the Dublin firm releases the latest odds on the TV special.
Looking at the past trends and it’s hard to get away from the fact that male contestants usually sway much of the public vote.
All that chest flashing and sequins really gets the housewives going.
In all 10 series to date, there has been at least one male contestant in the final three, and to push that trend even further, in nine of those series’, a male had finished in the top two.
This is why the price surrounding the chances of Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor-Dawson is firstly an insult to his talents on the floor, but also a very juicy prospect from a betting perspective at a massive 7/1 with Bet365.
He’s just one of three men left standing in the competition, but the only one who can realistically challenge for the title.
Patrick Robinson is a 14/1 shot and is improving with every week but doesn’t really have the likeable factor to make him a challenger while outsider Mark Benton, whose comedy style is brilliant to watch but his dancing technique is not, is trading at 100/1.
He’s the worst dancer left in the competition now and as soon as he gets put in the bottom two, the judges will give him the boot.
This leaves the very likable Taylor-Dawson to fly the flag for the men and he has every chance of going all the way.
There could be a chance that the Reid and Gumede have peaked too soon by scoring heavily, the only way is down from there, while the Hollyoaks star is progressing with every week and has the charisma to keep the public interested.
Another big plus for the selection is the fact he has the mesmerising Ola Jordan in his corner who has previous when it comes to winning Strictly with an improving outsider.
She led BBC Sports broadcaster Chris Hollins to the title in 2009 and her tireless work rate and likeable attitude make her partnership with Taylor-Dawson big players in the competition.
Get on the pair at 7/1. It won’t last much longer.
