How to Watch Andy Murray v Vincent Millot Online:
Having disposed of Go Soeda and Vincent Millot in gruelling conditions in the opening two rounds, Murray will now get the chance to play in less brutal conditions.
The Scot is scheduled to face Lopez at 3.30am GMT in the very early hours of Saturday morning and with a 7-0 record over the Spanish world number 27 he will be confident of progressing.
Murray sealed his place in the third round with a 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 win over French star Millot but looked out of sorts throughout, his distracted appearance caused by concerns for his brother who developed such serious heat exhaustion that he was laid low by multiple cramps
“What was happening with Jamie was more important than my match,” said Murray after his win. “It was a little distracting as well and you just try not use up any extra energy.”
“It is easy to say Jamie was only playing doubles and it’s not as physically demanding as the singles,” Andy explained.
“It wasn’t so much that he was cramping but that he was scared. He’s never dealt with anything like that before and being on your own, it’s difficult, so I tried to make sure someone was around him the whole day.”
The reigning Wimbledon Champion has yet to drop a set in Melbourne but he will face a stern test against a player who has reached fourth round in 2012 and was a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon three times.
The last time these two players met, at the US open in 2012, Murray won in four sets.
Lopez for his part has also yet to drop a set on his run to the third round beating Somdev Devvarman 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 in the first round and beating Micheal Berrer 6-4, 7-6, 6-4 in the second round.
With a career high of 15th in the world and three career titles to his name Lopez represents the first real challenge that Murray will have faced since his return from back surgery.
