Barcelona v Grenada Tues 20:00
After Real Madrid’s slip-up against Malaga, Barcelona will be keener than ever to earn three points this week when they play hosts to Granada as predictably heavy odds on favourites with Bet365 to take all three points.
José Mourinho’s Real were held to 1-1 draw thanks to a last minute Santi Cazorla effort that earned a point for big-spending Malaga.
As a result, Barça are now just eight points off the league leaders and with the Madrid side facing a potentially dangerous trip to Villarreal, could move to within five.
Pep Guradiola’s team have scored an average of 4.08 goals per game when playing at home this season and appeared to be in good spirits during their weekend win in Seville.
To make matters worse for Granada, the Catalan giants have conceded a lowly 0.38 goals per game this season , building up a defence that can only be seen as ‘impenetrable’.
Granada have found it difficult to string together a decent amount of results this season but go into their fixture with second placed Barcelona having just beaten Sporting Gijon.
Gijon may not pose the biggest threat in the Spanish top flight but coming off the bac of a victory is never detrimental to team morale and the Rojiblancos are going to need just about every ounce of that as they can get.
Scoring just 0.62 goals per game this season when away from home, statistics would suggest that Granada are in for a torrid time at the Camp Nou.
Lionel Messi was just one talisman in superb style at the weekend but it will take more than a little luck on Granada’s side to halt the star-studded cast of the Primera Liga title holders.
The visitors do have some lengthy injury problems, with Abel Resino without Jaime Romero, Fran Rico, Pape Diakhate, Roberto and Hassan Yebda, while Marc Muniesa and Cristian Tello could make an appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side after being called up to the squad.
Eric Abidal is still in training with the squad but will not make an appearance following news of his forthcoming liver transplant, while Ibrahim Afellay is on the road to recovery after a 6 month stint on the sidelines with a crucuate ligament injury.
