Levante Barcelona Team News as Guardiola looks to La Liga summit

Levante v Barcelona, Sat 21:00
With the fourth instalment of a possible five El Clásico fixtures this season just around the corner, all Barcelona can do is keep winning their matches and hope that Real Madrid don’t, as PaddyPower offer long odds, putting the Catalan giants as firm favourites to prove victorious at European probables Levante.

Barça go into Saturday’s game on the back of a league winning streak stretching back ten matches and will be hoping to stunt Levante’s hopes for a Champions League spot with a weekend win.

However, with a trip to London also to think, Pep Guardiola might alter his team selection for Saturday in order to preserve some of his stars for their Champions League quarter-final clash with Chelsea.

Barcelona are now just four points off top spot following recent hiccups from Real that has seen Los Merengues drop six points in less than a month.

Levante will be no easy competition though, having already ran out a 1-0 win over Real Madrid earlier this season and will be hoping to do the same against Barça as they continue their search for a European qualification place.

The Granotas sit in fifth spot as things stand and have the fifth best home defence in La Liga, keeping a clean sheet in half their games at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Juan Ignacio Martinez’s side have also managed to score an impressive 21 goals from set-pieces this campaign, accounting for almost three quarters of their overall goals and considering that Saturday’s visitors concede an average of 16 set pieces per game, the chance for the hosts to net would certainly seem apparent.

With a difficult week of fixtures ahead, it will be interesting to see who is and isn’t rested by visiting manager, Guardiola, on Saturday as each club hopes to stay within proximity of their own respective season targets.
