The Racing Post Trophy takes place this Saturday at Doncaster and the filed boasts a number of horses that will be sure to interest backers.
The current ante-post favourite for the Group 1 race held over the distance of 1 mile is Camelot.
The Aiden O’Brien-trained bay colt won convincingly as an odds-on shot in his only race, which was at Leopardstown against some useful opposition.
The smart two-year-old is the current ante-post favourite for the Derby and a big performance is expected at Doncaster.
The best odds available on Camelot are 11/8 and even at this relatively short price the bookmakers have seen plenty of support.
Second favourite Fencing, from the John Gosden yard, is available at a much more tempting 3/1. The chestnut colt was a disappointing third in his first race but followed last time out with a victory at Newbury in August.
There will be some market support for Fencing but many punters will be looking towards Encke as offering better value at odds of 6/1.
The Godolphin owned horse has a good record with 1 victory and 1 second place from just 2 starts and has a great chance of picking up an each way place.
Next in the betting is Zip Top. The bay colt has a decent record with 1 win and 1 third place from just 3 runs and could be in a position to trouble the each way places.
Certainly the odds of 9/1 are attractive and those looking for some value could do worse than to consider the animal for a place.
The field is completed by Learn (16/1) and Talwar (25/1).
