Manchester United and Real Madrid Possible Swap Deal

Rumours of Manchester United Goalkeeper David De Gea making the move to Real Madrid are still persisting, following on from last Summer’s much publicised transfer saga.

Madrid are believed to still be very interested in signing the Spanish keeper, who had another terrific season at Old Trafford last year, winning the PFA Goalkeeper of the Year award for the fourth time and getting his hands on both the League Cup and the Europa League – the latter meaning United will be playing Champions League Football this coming season, despite missing out on Premier League top 4.

The newest progression in Madrid’s long-winded pursuit of De Gea is the potential of a swap deal which would include a fee along with midfielder Toni Kroos.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Jose Mourinho has identified the German international and World Cup Winner as a target if Madrid to attempt to force a move for De Gea before the beginning of the 2017/2018 campaign.

The United manager has long been an admirer of the former Bayern Munich player, and sees him as the perfect partner for Paul Pogba in the midfield at Old Trafford.

The asking price for De Gea is reported to be approximately £60 Million – which would be a world record fee for a goalkeeper –although the inclusion of Kroos in the deal would lower that asking price.

Fellow Spaniard and United midfielder Ander Herrera came out today vowing that he would do “whatever it takes” to convince De Gea to remain at United, indicating just how important the 26-year-old is to the Red Devils.

One can’t help but feel that this transfer rumour won’t go away any time soon, and as was the case with last year, may come down to the final hours of the window.
