Arsenal Midfielder Wanted by West Ham

West Ham have been told that they will need to pay £20 million if they want to try and sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshire.

England international Wilshire has found himself surplus to requirements at the Emirates, opting to spend last season on loan with AFC Bournemouth.

The 34 time England international had a steady campaign with the Cherries, and has also been linked with them this Summer, but it is reported that Wilshire is very keen to join the Hammers – so keen in-fact that the midfielder has reportedly sent out “feelers”, although what these are has not been defined.

The Daily Star make the claim that Arsenal won’t sell unless they receive the eight figure sum for the 25-year-old, as well as a buy-back clause option in his contract.

The injury-prone playmaker has made 160 appearances for his boyhood club, and they do not want to let him go without being remunerated well.

Wilshere showed fantastic prospect as a youth with Arsenal, and the insistence of a buy-back option is a show of faith in the player’s potential quality, although injuries have hampered his career in recent years, and it looks like he will not be an Arsenal player come the start of the season.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is looking to improve his side following a poor debut season at the Olympic Stadium and has already signed defender Pablo Zabeleta and goalkeeper Joe Hart, with Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovic also reportedly close to making the move to the London club.

With Mark Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang among the central midfielders already at the club, the addition of Wilshire would mean they are entering the season with considerable depth in the position.
