Barcelona lay second in La Liga, three points behind fierce rivals Real Madrid going into their game against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday, despite remaining the only side in the top tier of Spanish football to have yet taste defeat.
A 3-2 win over Champions League rivals was enough to secure top spot in Group H and qualification for the knockout stages as the Catalan club go about retaining the crown they won last year, and Messi believes there are few managers who can compare to Guardiola.
“Guardiola really is a phenomenon. Firstly, it’s because he has won everything. Secondly, he has concern for detail. His way of paying attention to even the most trivial things is fascinating.
“He leaves nothing to chance. He is without doubt the best coach in the world.”
Guardiola will be hoping Messi can lead his side to victory over a Getafe side that is unlikely to provide much of a challenge for the Spanish giants.
The home side have managed just two wins in their last five games while Barcelona have secured four wins and a draw, while scoring an impressive 14 goals in the process.
With Barca scoring four goals in eight games already this season the home side must be careful to avoid a very one-sided game, all the while relying on Miku, who is the club’s leading scorer with five goals this season.
Barcelona’s attacking record reads 38 goals scored so fal already this season while Getafe have shipped 19, the third highest total in La Liga.
That combination, plus Barca’s defensive astuteness which has seen them conceded just six goals so far, points to more trouble for a Getafe side just one point above the relegation zone.
