There is a cracking line-up of Premier League games on Monday afternoon and each match can be looked at when placing some of your first football bets in 2012, as Bet365 bookmaker report a flurry of activity.
Kicking things off on the 2nd January 2012 is four 3pm kick-offs. This includes Aston Villa v Swansea at Villa Park. Both teams had excellent results at the weekend and they will want to follow this up positively.
Looking at the betting odds, Villa are the favourites at 5/6, while Swansea are available at 4/1. The draw is then 12/5. In the first goalscorer betting market, Darren Bent leads the way at 4/1.
Next up is Blackburn Rovers v Stoke City. The home side have had a cracking few days – they drew at Anfield before winning at Old Trafford – and they will want to secure a home victory to continue their revival.
They are actually favourites to do just that at 6/4, with a Stoke victory available at 9/4. Then, the draw – which many may choose to back – is at 15/8. The favourite to score first is Yakubu at 5/1.
The third 3pm kick-off on Monday sees Queens Park Rangers take on Norwich. At the moment the home side are flirting with the bottom three in 17th, while Norwich are sitting comfortably in 11th.
Despite this, home advantage means they are the 11/10 favourites to pick up the points, while Norwich are 5/2. The draw is then available at 12/5. Heidar Helguson leads the way in the first goalscorer betting market at 5/1.
The final 3pm kick-off is Wolves at home to Chelsea. The home side are just two points ahead of safety, so they need the points, while Chelsea have lost their place in the top four recently, so desperately need an away win.
Looking at the betting odds for this one, Chelsea are the favourites to get three points at 8/15, while Wolves are being backed at 11/2 for a shock home win. The draw is then 3/1, while Didier Drogba is 9/2 for the first goal.
Finally on Monday, in a 5.30pm kick-off, Fulham take on Arsenal at Craven Cottage. This is expected to be a tight match, but the Gunners are the favourites to win at 10/11 for the win, with Fulham available at 3/1.
There have been plenty of shocks recently in the Premier League, will there be more on Monday afternoon?
