QPR have allegedly launched a £7m bid for hot-shot Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey, sources around Loftus Road are quoting.
The USA international despite being Fulham’s outstanding player this season, bagging 15 goals from midfield, only has 18 months left on his contract and is rumoured to be keen on a new challenge.
Plenty of clubs have been notified about his situation but it seems that QPR are the only one to have made an official approach for the player. New QPR boss Mark Hughes managed the 28-year-old during his own tenure as Fulham boss and is very aware of the energetic midfielder’s ability.
Hughes has rather underwhelmed the R’s faithful thus far with his transfer deals. Chairman Tony Fernandes has been very open with fans saying that the squad will be significantly strengthened in the window but they have been unable to lure anyone to Loftus Road on a permanent deal as yet.
Only Taye Taiwo has signed on-loan from AC Milan. Deals for Chelsea centre-back Alex, Man City star Nedum Onouha and Brazilian striker Henrique have all seemingly fell through and Hughes is reported to be very frustrated with the way QPR have gone so publicly gone about their business.
Dempsey, however, is a player that Hughes has been chasing that hasn’t been exposed to the media as yet. He is rumoured to have made a £4m bid for the striker two weeks ago but was rejected by Fulham – with time running out in the window Hughes is likely to go back to Fulham with a vastly improved offer. Apparently more nearer the £7m mark.
