In one of two bottom-half six pointers this weekend, QPR will travel to Ewood Park on Saturday as Ladbrokes make Mark Hughes’s men long odds in the hopes that they can widen the gap between them and the relegation zone following a busy January transfer window.
Standing in their way however is Steve Kean’s Blackburn Rovers, who should be more fired up than ever after succumbing to a 7-1 thumping against Arsenal last weekend.
QPR slumped to a loss of their own in their last fixture, losing at home against Wolves and will have their own reasons to seek out a loss against 19th place Blackburn.
That being said, Mark Hughes’ side will have to do so without several attackers, most notably Djibril Cissé.
While DJ Campbell and Heidar Helguson are both spending time on the sidelines with injuries, January signing Cissé was sent off in just his second game for the Rs last weekend and won’t be back in the matchday squad until March.
This means that fellow winter signature, Bobby Zamora will lead the QPR attack and could be partnered with either Jay Bothroyd or Rob Hulse.
Blackburn have an entirely different issue and will go without team regulars Christopher Samba and Gael Givet this weekend, who are out through injury and suspension, respectively.
Grant Hanley is expected to partner Scott Dann at centre-back as a result of the absences while new signing Bradley Orr could feature at right-back in just his second game for Rovers.
Blackburn could scrape out of the relegation zone with a win over QPR providing that Bolton lose their match against Wigan.
Both sides will have full concentration on staying in the Premier League this season in a mtch that could have a great bearing on the fate of either side
