Real Madrid v Levante 20:30 Sun
Although Real Madrid were upset to lose out on the opportunity to retain their Copa del Rey title, the Spanish giants are still heavy odds on favourites with Bet365 for victory as they focus their attentions on league proceedings, and will hope to stretch maintain their lead over Barcelona with a win over Levante on Sunday.
Los Merengues succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season and won’t take the Levante threat lightly going into their match.
Levante have been somewhat of a surprise addition to the Primera Division’s top four this season, especially when considering the side only managed to finish in 14th spot last year.
Despite the surprise however, Real Madrid are still an undeniable force and after enjoying a run of six straight wins, Jose Mourinho’s side will be hoping for further success as they look to snatch the league title out of the Barcelona grasp.
The league leaders may score an average of 4-1 goals per game when playing at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, but if Levante can hold their star studded side out, there’s another aspect of the capital outfit that isn’t as impressive.
The Madrid club have only the 15th best home defence in the Spanish top flight and conceded an average of 1.30 goals per game at home.
While it may not sound like much, Levante haven’t been bad away from home this campaign and a league upset isn’t to be ruled out.
With Espanyol hosting bottom of the table Real Zaragoza on Sunday also, Levante will be keen not to drop points this weekend lest they fall out of the European qualification spots.
However, statistics can say all they like but a trip to face Real Madrid will never be a straight forward one.
