Lille star Eden Hazard could be in line for a move to Manchester United in the summer after impressing Sir Alex Ferguson during a recent scouting trip.
The exciting Belgian, who is on the wish list of several top European clubs, was watched by the Red Devil’s boss during the the Ligue 1 champions’ encounter with Lyon last month.
Ferguson admitted that the 21-year-old impressed him during the game fuelling speculation that he will make a move for the playmaker who has already confirmed he will leave the Stade-Lille Metropole at the end of this season.
Speaking to French radio station RMC he said: “When I went to watch Lyon versus Lille, last time, of course I saw Hazard playing but also other players which is part of my job.
“I can confirm Hazard is a very good player, he has so many qualities, he is very fast over the first ten metres.”
The 70-year-old will face stiff competition from the continents elite sides with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur all set to vie for his signature in the close season.
However Hazard, talking to Sky Sports, indicated that his future could lie at Old Trafford acknowledging his delight at Ferguson’s comments and conceding that the prospect of a move to United could turn his head.
“I am flattered by the compliment coming from the top manager in world football,”
“I did not know he was at the game to be honest but no one knew he came to watch me because I was not aware.
“Manchester United are a very top team and anyone would listen to them.”
Hazard has racked up over 180 appearance for Los Dogues since making his debut in 2007. He’s also won 26 caps for Belgium after breaking into the first team in 2008.
