Tottenham Hotspur v Blackburn Rovers: Harry hoping to revive European dreams

Tottenham Hotspur v Blackburn Rovers, Sunday 16:00
In the first of their two fixtures in this double gameweek, Tottenham will play hosts to Blackburn this weekend as Paddy Power mark Spurs down as firm odds on favourites to bag the three points while offering the chance for free betting.

Harry Redknapp has had some rotten luck with injuries this season with several influential members of the first team being ruled out for varying months.

It was bad enough news just over a week ago that Niko Kranjcar would be absent for the final four games of the season but Redknapp learned earlier this week that Benoit Assou Ekotto is now set to sit out the rest of the campaign with a dislocated shoulder.

As a result, Danny Rose looks set for a rare start this Sunday at left-back; a position he has become more accustomed to in recent months.

Along with the defensive woes at White Hart Lane, Louis Saha is also a concern for the Blackburn fixture having picked up a groin injury prior to the QPR match last weekend.

Steve Kean is fortunate to have a far cleaner bill of health and Grant Hanley is the only long-term worry for the Lancashire outfit.

Blackburn have lost five of their last six outings and are without a win at White Hart Lane since the 2007-08 season.

However, the unfortunate injury state in the Tottenham camp coupled with their poor run of form could prove telling in this weekend’s encounter.

That being said, statistics speak volumes and with the worst away defence in the Premier League and clean sheets in just 6% of their matches on unfamiliar soil this term, the odds would deservedly seem stacked against Kean.

Blackburn can’t move out of the relegation places unless they manage to put a freakishly unanswered nine goals past Spurs on Sunday, making for low morale before a ball is even kicked in North London.
