Manchester United are chasing the signature of Brazilian superstar Paulo Henrique Ganso, the creative midfielder dubbed by many as the new Kaka.
The Santos star is all but certain to leave the club in January after the Club World Cup and Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to tie up a deal now to beat off competition from rival clubs.
Ganso is a highly-rated player and Manchester United, although leading the race at the moment, will have to work hard to get their man. Many European teams, including AC Milan, Paris St Germain and Tottenham are monitoring the situation.
It is thought that an offer of around £25m should be enough for Santos, with United the only interested team likely to be able to offer this much.
As for the player, he is thought to prefer a move to Italy. However, with fellow countrymen Anderson, Rafael and Fabio at Old Trafford, Ganso could be convinced to give the Premier League a shot.
The 21-year-old would certainly fit the mould of Manchester United’s other summer signings. He is a young, talented footballer with a massive future in the game.
Ferguson is clearly building for the future and forming a young exciting squad. Ganso would fit right into this after United’s scouts gave their approval on a potential deal.
The Brazilian isn’t the only midfielder being linked with United of course. Wesley Sneijder Luka Modric and Samir Nasri have all been mentioned with regards to a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Whether the Premier League Champions make a serious offer for more than one of these remains to be seen, but the club have certainly been watching the progress of Ganso and could move things along with an enquiry about his availability in the next week or so.
