Jol looking to homeland for wing reinforcements

Following an impressive breakthrough season in the Eredivisie, Ola John is attracting a raft of European attention with Fulham rumoured to be heading a list of possible suitors.

The 19 year-old took full advantage of an injury to FC Twente teammate, Nacer Chadil, early in the season, performing to the extent that the starting spot at left wing remained his even when Chadil made his return.

John has since gone on to make 49 appearances for the Dutch club this season, scoring eight goals and recording a superb 22 assists in the process.

Fulham manager Martin Jol has extensive networks in Holland’s top flight, having managed several clubs in his home nation.

The Cottagers are expected to sell several stars at the end of the current campaign with the likes of Clint Dempsey, Moussa Dembele, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Kerim Frei all believed to be on the shopping lists of some sides.

As a result, reinforcements are likely to be sought after as the West London team look to build on a highly impressive 2011-12 season.

Ola John is currently a Netherlands international and is being linked with a spot in Bert van Marwijk’s Dutch side to enter Euro 2012.

The youngster made his senior debut for the Oranje in a friendly against England .

Several Serie A sides have also been associated with a move for John but Jol will be hoping that the allure of linking up under his Dutch compatriot will win over in the end.

The teenager would be expected to command an asking price of around £5m should he lave and with rising superstar and Twente teammate Luuk de Jong also said to be moving toward the exit, a departure this summer could be favourable.
