To add fuel to the fires rumouring of a Stamford Bridge exit for the veteran, sources suggest that representatives of Didier Drogba are in China to thrash out terms with several sides regarding a possible switch to the Asian country.
The Ivorian has been heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League in recent months, especially after former teammate Nicolas Anelka completed his switch to Shanghai Shenhua.
Shanghai are one such outfit being associated with a move for Drogba, however Guangzhou Evergrande and Beijing Guoan are also thought to be interested in signing the 34 year-old.
China is emerging as a very tempting option for some players who either find themselves out of favour with their current clubs or are entering the latter stages of their career.
Teams in the Chinese Super League are able to offer massive wages and bonuses to their players and should he complete a move to the nation’s top flight, Drogba would pick up a reported £270,000-a-week contract. Not a bad pension fund by any means.
Former Lucas Barrios is the latest star to seal a move to China after agreeing terms with Guangzhou Evergrande, who currently sit at the summit of the Chinese top flight.
Despite his age, Drogba has been a huge presence for the Blues this season and is one of the reasons that the team have made their way to the Champions League final.
However, his contract runs out at the end of the current season, allowing him to leave on a free transfer unless Chelsea tempt him into signing a new deal; something they have so far been unable to do.
Drogba would make a reported £20m if he did complete a move to China and with agents already in the nation, it could be decided swiftly whether or not he does complete a move.
