Jovetic to leave Fiorentina this summer

Stevan Jovetic will leave Fiorentina in the summer according to a Squeaky Bum Time source alerting long-term suitors Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Montenegro international has been strongly linked with a move away from Florence with Serie A champions Juventus reportedly monitoring his situation along with Napoli.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is also a keen admirer of the 22-year-old and with Didier Drogba having departed Stamford Bridge on a free transfer he is seeking a player capable of replacing the Ivory Coast international.

Having already spent £32 million to bring Lille star Eden Hazard to West London the Russian oligarch is prepared get his cheque book out again in order to prise Jovetic away from the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Abramovich could face competition from Tottenham as Harry Redknapp seeks to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season after negotiations with Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor hit the buffers.

It’s thought Fiorentina aren’t looking to cash in on Jovetic, who’s contract with the Viola runs until 2016, and sporting director Daniele Prade hopes to keep the striker at the club.

Prade said to Gazzetta dello Sport: “Our wish is to keep Jovetic. The player will have to tell us whether he wants to stay or go.

“We have not received any offers for any player and that includes Jovetic but the transfer market is open until August 31.

“However, Jovetic is under contract with us and we want to build the team around him.”

Jovetic scored 14 league goals in 27 appearances for the Tuscan outfit last season after battling back from a cruciate ligament injury to his right knee that kept him out of the entire 2010/11 campaign.

It’s rumoured that he wants to play Champions League football putting Chelsea at the front of the for his signature after their Champions League triumph last month.
