New boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to boost his strike force after taking over from Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane earlier this month and is thought to be closing on Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor.
Jermaine Defoe is the only senior forward at the club and Villas-Boas wants at least four top class forwards to fire Spurs back into the Champions League next term.
He has his eyes on Damiao and Hulk and dispatched scouts to the Riverside Stadium on Friday night to watch them in action against Great Britain in an Olympics warm-up match.
Internacional frontman Damiao has been on the north London club’s radar for 18 months but they are unwilling to meet the £25million asking price on his head.
Villas-Boas will have to move quickly if he is to capture the 22-year-old’s signature with Italian giants AC Milan also mulling over a bid as they look to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovich.
The 34-year-old also wants to raid former club Porto for Hulk and it’s thought he is keen on reuniting with his former manager once the Games in London come to a close.
It would cost Spurs around £38m to acquire the powerful 25-year-old with Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo still keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
However, Hulk’s next destination could well be Spurs after he was pictured meeting with Villas-Boas in the Brazil hotel in St Albans earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Steven Pienaar is close to sealing a £5million return to Everton after spending the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park.
Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright has been locked in talks as he tries to finalise the deal for the South Africa playmaker before the new Premier League campaign kicks off.
