Kompany desperate for Van Persie to join Man City

Vincent Kompany believes Robin Van Persie would be an ‘incredible addition’ for Manchester City as the battle for the Arsenal strikers signature intensifies the Daily Mail report.

The Belgian international captained City to their first Premier League title last season and believes his North London counterpart should join him at the Etihad Stadium.

Roberto Mancini is currently tussling with rivals Manchester United and Italian champions Juventus for Van Persie who looks certain to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Having won just one FA Cup since arriving from Feyenoord in 2004 the Holland striker questioned the ambition of the club after revealing he won’t be renewing his contract which has a year just left to run.

Manager Arsene Wenger is still hoping the 28-year-old will perform a U-turn and choose to stay but Kompany hinted that City should be doing all they can to secure his services.

“He is a player who has improved so much. I started playing against him five or six years ago, but his performances last season were unbelievable.

“A player like this would be an incredible addition to any team that he joined. His movement is near perfection and the stats show his finishing. He has led by example at Arsenal, so yes, he is a great player.”

It’s been reported that Juve are prepared to meet Arsenal’s £20 million asking price for Van Persie and offer him five-year deal with a salary of £190,000-per-week after tax in an attempt to lure him to Turin.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also confident of nabbing the Dutchman even though he is unwilling to offer more than £15m for a player with a limited sell-on value and poor injury record.
City are still in the running but need to offload Emmanuel Adebayor before making their move and will reportedly let the Togo frontman join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.
