Man City v Wolfsburg as Edin Dzeko returns to former club in friendly

Manchester City step up their preparations for the defence of their Premier League title this weekend when they travel to Germany to take on Wolfsburg, as Bet365 report free bets and will be showing this game through their live stream service.

This will be a tough pre-season friendly for the Premiership Champions, as Roberto Mancini’s men have had a mixed time of things so far in pre-season, with defeat at Oldham Atheltic last time out their second in five matches.

They will of course not be too worried by the results as at this stage it is more important to get match fitness and generally get prepared for the new campaign. However, as Premier League Champions, they will want to take a few more wins into the first game.

Pre-season is often a time to blood new signings too, but as yet, City don’t have any new recruits to their squad. Instead, it is the men who led them to the Premier League title that are looking to impress Mancini.

With plenty of time to sign players though, the current crop will be hoping it isn’t their position that the Italian decides to strengthen. It is also a chance for the coaching staff at the club to assess where their money would best be spent.

As for Wolfsburg, they will be keen to impress against the Champions of England. Ahead of what is sure to be a tough Bundesliga season, it will give them a massive boost.

At the same time though, they don’t want to go all out for the win and end up getting a couple of injuries. Gaining fitness and match sharpness is the priority and if a victory comes with this, then it’s all the better.

Looking at their pre-season so far, Wolfsburg have lost three of their five friendly matches so far, so it has been rather hit and miss for them. They are a dangerous side though and they will look to get at City from the very first whistle.

Will Manchester City show their class or will their stuttering pre-season continue? Find out on Saturday evening.
