Brendan Rodgers will be aiming for his first Premier League victory in charge of Liverpool as Paddy Power offer free bets and refunds should Luis Suarez or Carlos Tevez scores the final goal of the game.
This is probably one of the biggest matchups of the weekend when his team take on Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
As has been well documented, Liverpool lost 3-0 at West Brom on the opening day, a result which cancelled out the pre-season optimism at Anfield. They still hope to have a good campaign of course, but it was a shock to the system last weekend, no doubt about that.
A good recovery to the disappointment would be a victory over the Premier League champions this weekend. If Rodgers can inspire his new team to three points on Sunday, the home fans will believe in this new era more than ever.
Liverpool’s team isn’t quite settled yet of course with there being plenty of speculation about players coming in and others leaving. Once the transfer window is closed, they can then fully focus on the style Rodgers wants them to adopt.
Paddy Power will offer free bets worth £250/€250 to spend on any Premiership outright or Premiership match betting market this weekend, including Liverpool v Man City! They’ll also refund bets should Suarez or Tevez score last! Exclusive to SqueakyBumTime.com
That’s not to say they shouldn’t be getting positive results before then. Liverpool have some talented players and a few others that will be fighting to impress their new manager.
The same can be said for Manchester City. Roberto Mancini wants to add to his squad in the next couple of weeks, so it is up to the vast amount of talent he has at his disposal to force their way into the starting line-up.
One man who won’t be able to do that over the next few weeks is Sergio Aguero. He is out for five weeks after picking up an injury during the victory over Southampton last weekend.
This means that Carlos Tevez – the man who many thought had played his last game in England last year – will lead the line and look to terrorise the Liverpool defence. He will have some company too with Samir Nasri, David Silva and Yaya Toure turning out for the Champions.
Mancini will want his side to be more solid on Sunday than they were last weekend though. They are playing stronger opposition than Southampton – who they let in twice – and the Italian will demand more concentration from his players.
In this fixture last season, these two played out a 1-1 draw and a tight contested is expected once again. It may be early in the campaign, but Liverpool can’t really afford to lose this one, certainly for the sake of morale.
The pressure is on as these two English giants meet at 4pm on Sunday.
