Its been a strange old time for Tottenham fans as the Luca Modric saga continues to cast a shadow of Spurs start to the season and with rumours of an imminent move for Real Madrid’s Emmanuel Adebayor there is plenty going on at White Hart Lane as Tottenham make the trip to Edinburgh to face Hearts in the Europa League.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is once again adamant that apparent want away midfielder Luca Modric is staying at the club for the for see able future but the rumours continue to fly as the gifted Croatian has been left out of the trip to Tynecastle with a ‘troublesome groin injury’.
Of course, this may be true, however Spurs team selection tonight does little to deflect attention away from a transfer saga that is just about equalling Cesc Fabregas’s move to Barcelona in terms of inevitably.

Chelsea have come in for Modric several times and with the latest offer of £27m rebuffed by Chairman Daniel Levy it is apparent that the pressure is really beginning to build on the the Tottenham board, with Chelsea now rumoured to be offering Yossi Benayoun and Salomon Kalou in a player swap deal, which could solve Redknapp’s crisis up front, now that Robbie Keane has left for the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The cash would certainly be welcome at White Hart Lane and could easily bolster Spurs interest in Real Madrid’s Emmanuel Adebayor, who could make the move from the Bernabeau after a disappointing spell under Mourinho.
Of course, Tottenham have yet to play a competitive game this season as their game with Everton was called off last week due to the London riots, so a trip to Hearts in the Europa League could prove the perfect tonic for Redknapp and his boys.
With Peter Crouch rumoured to be nearing the exit, much lies on the shoulders of Jermaine Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko and although they are a threat for any side, it is clear that Redknapp must make a move for a striker sooner rather than later, and an injury to either forward man could signal a striking crisis at the Lane.
