Real Madrid to pip Chelsea to Ibrahimovic signing

Real Madrid could be about to make a surprise move for reported Chelsea target Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The future of the Swedish International has come up for discussion following the news of PSG imminent big money capture of Napoli star Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea were believed to be keen to bring the former AC Milan to Stamford Bridge however according to Spanish site Punto Pelota new Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on a reunion with the 31 year old.

Ancelotti signed the former Juventus striker while with the Parisians with Ibrahimovic firing the goals, 30 in the league, as PSG claimed the Ligue 1 title.

Reports suggest that Ibrahimovic, who endured a difficult season with Barcelona in his one and only spell in Spanish football, is keen on a move to the Spanish capital and is ready to take a pay cut to seal a deal.

A move could prove difficult however with relations between the two clubs’s strained following the La Liga’s side pursuit of Ancelotti.

That could suit Chelsea and with Mourinho very familiar with Ibrahimovic from his time with Inter Milan the Premier League side could yet pip Madrid to the 90 times capped star.

Ibrahimovic is one of Europe’s deadliest strikers with 92 goals in all competitions in his past three seasons and is reportedly available for £17 million pounds.

Meanwhile Chelsea have had a bid for West Bromwich Albion’s highly rated teenager Isaiah Brown rejected with the matter now set to be decided by a tribunal.

The 16 year old, an England Under-17 International, is one of the most promising talents in Britain and made his debut for the club last season against Wigan.

With Mourinho keen to focus on developing the club’s academy the midfielder has emerged as a serious target for Chelsea this summer and while the club are set to get their man it remains to be seen how much the deal will cost the Londoners.

WBA Sporting and Technical director, Richard Garlick, expressed his disappointment at the Chelsea’s offer in a statement released on the club’s official website.

“We are disappointed by Chelsea’s offer,” he said.

“We have invested a lot of time and money in Isaiah’s development as a player and – as one of our most exciting Academy products in recent years – we had hoped to bring him through into our first team.

“But Chelsea have forced our hands and we are more than prepared for the matter to be decided by a tribunal if needs be.”
