Juventus and Roma go head to head as Serie A returns to action following the festive break.

A proverbial top of the table six pointer is on the cards as first takes on second. Juventus headed in the Christmas break on the back of nine straight wins and with a five point lead over their unbeaten rivals.

That lead could be reduced to two points should Roma pull off an incredible victory against a Juventus side which has not lost at home since January 2013. Roma lost 4-1 in the same fixture last season but look a different team from the one that finished sixth in the same campaign. Rudi Garcia’s side have yet to taste defeat this time out winning 12 and drawing 5 of their opening 17 games.

After an opening of run of 10 straight wins the clubs stumbled ever so slightly drawing four games on the trot before returning to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina. A 2-2 draw with an improving Milan side was then followed up with an impressive 4-0 win over Catania.

Juventus also smashed home four goals on their last outing of 2013 running out 4-1 winners over an Atalanta side that had previously only lost one game at home this season.

Antonio Conte is set to be boosted ahead of the clash with striker Carlos Tevez set to be included in their line-up. The Argentine International’s had appeared a doubt after his return to Italy was delayed due to his pregnant wife but with the player training on Thursday he should be fit to feature.

Conte should also be able to call upon Andrea Pirlo for the clash. The veteran playmaker has been out of action since the 1st of December but is poised to hand his side a welcome boost by returning for the clash.

Roma meanwhile has earned a reputation for fast starts and have scored five goals in the opening 30 minutes in five of their last seven games.
