Milan, currently 12th in the table, recorded a 2-0 away to Vincent Montello’s Champions league chasing side last time out thanks to goals from Phillipe Mexes and Mario Balotelli.

The win ended a run of five games without a win and eased the pressure on manager Clarence Seedoft.

The former Milan midfielder, only appointed in January, has seen his position come under scrutiny in recent weeks after that poor run but he remains focused as hopes to use the win as catalyst to a strong finish to the season.

“Let’s hope that this result will be the start of some continuity in terms of results,” he said.

“Both teams had chances (on Wednesday) but we deserved the win for the substance we showed.”

A strong finish to the season could see them avoid the club’s worst finish (10th) since the 1997/1998 season not to mention still see them claim European football with the club just eight points adrift of fifth place Inter, and midfielder Sully Muntari has rallied his team-mates ahead of the run-in.

“We’re a family and even the players who have wives and kids at home like me and don’t get to see them as often as they’d like, but for us players, we’re another family,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’re a united family and we have to keep on pushing on as we’re doing. All of us have to make sure we’re ready when the coach calls on us.

“We have to fight for this jersey, it’s a part of who we are and this is our life.”

They will fancy their chances of getting another win against a Chievo side that is 16th in the table, just three points above the bottom three.

While the club have two of their last five games, both of those wins have come at home and on the road they are without a win in seven games, their last success coming in a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Sassuolo in December.
