Stoke v Chelsea Odds : Can Mourinho’s side keep a clean sheet?

Jose Mourinho’s side travel to the Potters, as the latest Stoke v Chelsea odds suggest that punters are lumping on William Hill’s price of 6/4 that the Blues can win to nil as they face a side with big problems in front of goal.

Remarkably, Stoke have scored just three goals in 10 Barclays Premier League games against Chelsea, failing to net in the last four in a row, and with Chelsea finding the net eight times in their last three away trips, including four at Sunderland midweek, the 6/4 is proving a popular choice.

Chelsea will aim to pile the pressure on Arsenal when they travel to face Stoke on Saturday.

With the Gunners not in action until Sunday Jose Mourinho can see his side move to within one point with a win over the Potters.

The Blues have racked up some impressive scores against Stoke in recent years, running out four nil winners on their last trip to the Britannia in January 2013 and they have never lost to the club in the Premier League.

Stokes last win over Chelsea came in a league cup tie in 1995 at Stamford Bridge with their last success on home turf coming in a 3-0 win in 1975.

That coupled with the fact that Jose Mourinho has never lost a league game as Chelsea manager in December would suggest that the club will continue their recent run of three successive league wins.

The most recent of those came midweek in a hard fought 4-3 win over Sunderland with the three points inspired by a stunning performance from Eden Hazard.

The Belgian star scored a brace to take his tally to six for the season with his performance earning the praise of his manager “It was his best performance playing for me. We know about the talent, but for the first time under me he showed ambition from the first to the last minute, He has great talent but sometimes he can disappear from games”

Hazard is likely to start alongside another impressive midweek performer, Juan Mata with Oscar likely to fit to come in to the midfield in place of Frank Lampard.

Chelsea will once again be without David Luiz while Demba Ba could push Fernando Torres for a starting place. Samuel Eto’o is a doubt for the game.

Stoke meanwhile drew 0-0 with Cardiff meanwhile and currently sit 14th in the table. Mark Hughes’ side have been decent of late losing just one of their last five games although they have managed just one win during that run.

Hughes will be without Robert Huth for the game while Jon Walters will hope to feature after his run of 102 consecutive appearances was broken midweek. The Irish star was an unused substitute against the Welsh side but could feature on Saturday.

Despite Stoke’s poor record against the Londoners, midfielder Charlie Adam believes his side have a good chance of getting something from the game.

“We have a tough game at the weekend,” the Scottish international told his club’s official website. “But they will be coming here knowing that they have a tough afternoon too.

“They are one of the top teams in the league.

“We want to win the game though, and we will create chances. If we can take one or two of them, (and) have that bit of luck then it is a game that we can get something from, for sure.”
