Four straight wins in the Premier League has seen David Moyes side rise to sixth in the table, and there’s no doubts that the Old Trafford faithful will be looking for a good start to 2014 as the side pushes on for the title and at least Champions League qualification.

The change to a 4-4-2 formation in the win against Norwich last week saw much improvement in the side, and David Moyes will be happy Danny Welbeck has finally produced the sort of scoring touch that has been missing in recent seasons.

With four goals in his last four games the 23yr old has filled the gap due to injuries to Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie, and through partnering up front with Javier Hernandez the side poses much more of an attacking threat, plus Michael Carrick has returned to the bolster the midfield.

As for Tottenham, there’s been plenty of upheaval at White Hart Lane this season, with Andre Villas-Boas dismissed after a poor set of results and Spurs old boy Tim Sherwood as come in as boss.

Results have improved somewhat, with Sherwood preferring a more attacking line up and reverting to 4-4-2, which has seen Adebayor and Soldado lead the line. Paulinho and Dembele provide the cover in midfield, but there’s no doubt the side will be severely tested at Old Trafford.

Conceding goals is still a problem for the Lilywhites, and there’s sure to be plenty of goalscoring opportunities for the home side as they look to climb the table.

Of course, the 5/2 on offer today already looks like being the best bet on New Years Day, and its one which will surely not last long.

The Red Devils are coming back to some form, and at 5/2 are begging to be backed against a Spurs side still adjusting to life with their new manager.

Take the home win at 5/2.
