Everton, without a win in their last 5 trips to London, sit fifth in the table one point ahead of their hosts and they will fancy their chances of a success given Tim Sherwood’s side inconsistent home form.
Spurs have already dropped 15 points at home, losing four and drawing three. They lost 5-1 to Manchester City the last time out, the second time this season they had conceded five in front of their home fans following their defeat to Everton’s cross city rivals Liverpool in December.
Both sides have mixed news on the injury front going into the game.
Everton could have on loan Barcelona star Gerard Deulofeu back in their ranks with Toffee’s boss Roberto Martinez revealing midweek that the talented Spanish star will be assessed in the days leading up Sunday’s contest.
Martinez is also poised to welcome back Seamus Coleman following a hamstring problem while new signing Lacina Traore could come into contention for his debut.
Everton will definitely be without Romelu Lukaku and long-term absentee’s Darron Gibson, Arouna Kone and Bryan Oviedo.
Spurs meanwhile have worries of their own with midfielders Sandro and Erik Lamela out with calf and thigh injuries respectively.
Andros Townsend could return after a 2 month absence while Moussa Dembele is also in line to feature with Sherwood revealing that both are in his plans.
“We’re positive on Andros and he has a chance (for Everton), he’s up for selection. He’s champing at the bit to return” the Spurs boss said
“Dembele’s fine. He’s back out training again and he’s in the frame to start against Everton.”
The two club’s drew 0-0 when they met at Goodison Park in November.
