Spurs lining up Gareth Barry and Yann M’Vila moves

The list of midfielders being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur is increasing by the day.

Andre Villas-Boas is keen to bolster the defensive side of his midfield and has been associated with Brazilian’s Paulinho and Bernard but recent reports are linking Gareth Barry and Yann M’Vila with moves to White Hart Lane.

Despite having the fit again Sandro on his books Villas-Boas wants a new defensive midfield especially as Scott Parker is being lined up for a summer move to either Sunderland or Fulham and has added Barry and M’Vila to his list.

Barry looks set to be first victim of Manuel Pellegrini’s reign as Manchester City manager. The 32 year old England international is reportedly surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium and will be allowed leave during the summer.

That has alerted Tottenham who are believed to be lining up a surprise cut price £4million bid for the left footed midfielder. Barry is entering the final year of his contract and is not content with sitting on the bench at City.

However they face a rival for the signature of Barry with the Sunday People reporting that former club Aston Villa are keen on a reunion.

Villa boss Paul Lambert wants to add some experience to his young Villa side and sees Barry as an ideal solution although any deal would be dependent on Barry taking a pay cut from his reported £100,000 a week.

Stoke, under the stewardship of Mark Hughes, are also interested in the midfielder but with Spurs tipped to challenge for a Champions League spot once again Barry might be tempted by the bright lights of London.

TalkSport meanwhile are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur could rival Arsenal for the signature of French midfielder Yann M’Vila.

The 22 year old is reportedly keen on a move to England just 6 months after he joined Russian side Rubin Kazan in a £10.5 million from French side Stade Rennes.

M’Vila has struggled to settle in Russia with injuries restricting him to just five appearances however despite his woes he remains very highly rated and both Spurs and Arsenal are still keen to do a deal to bring him to England.

The 22 times capped French International spent 4 years with Rennes making 150 appearance before moving to Russia.

Should Rubin decide to let M’Vila leave they would been keen to re-coup the money forked out in January.
