A team that finished 10th in the English Championship last season, the upcoming season is a chance for redemption for Birmingham City Football Club.
Birmingham City ended the 2014/15 campaign with 63 points on the table and they would be hoping to do much better this time around as they seek to move back into the English top flight by winning the Championship this season. Birmingham will being the next season at home when they play host to Reading FC on Saturday August 8th. The fixtures of the next season has been released recently and the Gary Rotwett’s side has some tricky matches coming in the early part of the season. However, before the next season starts, there are certain areas that need to be addressed and certain thing that the fans should be expecting from their team next season.
Birmingham City have a fairly good squad for a Championship team but that is not enough if they seek promotion to the Premier League. The club needs to invest in new players but before that, there is the issue of club’s ownership that needs to be addressed. Ernst & Young has been running Birmingham International Holdings Ltd since February following the imprisonment of former owner, Carson Yeung last march. The club administration has received a number of offers but it remains to be seen who will be the new owners of the club.
It is imminent that this issue gets sorted out as early as possible so that the focus can then be turned towards buying new players for the coming season. The Blues have some exciting players enrolled already and with or without further new signings, Birmingham City seems to be in good position to challenge for the top prize next season. Donaldson was the top goal scorer for the club last season with 16 goals to his name in all competitions. The bosses at the club would be hoping to keep hold of the hot property and help him score even more goals this season.
