2015/2016 Season Preview: Blackburn Rovers FC

Blackburn Rovers were once the most feared team in the English top flight but now the club can barely compete with the best in the Championship.

Blackburn Rovers finished the 2014/15 season with 67 points on the table that saw them finish the season on 9th position in the Championship. Rovers have a rich history under their belt as they have three top flight status under their belt along with 6 FA cup titles. And the fans of the club are not pleased to see their beloved club struggle in the Championship and would love to see Rover promote back to the English Premier League.

However, achieving that feat will not be an easy task for Blackburn Rovers as they kick off 2015/16 season at home against an inform Wolverhampton Wanderers side on August 8th. And the biggest challenge for manager Gary Bowyer is to keep hold of his starts players with one of the players, King, already moving to last season champions Bournemouth, in this transfer window. Apart from keeping hold of the current players, the club needs to invest in bringing new players to the fold if they are to compete with the bets in the business and achieve club’s target in the coming season. The Rovers have some experienced players in the team with goalkeeper Robinson having played in the Premier League for a long time and has also represented England internationally.

Blackburn would do well to keep hold of last year’s top scorer Gestede. The striker managed to cross the 20 goals mark last season with 22 goals to his name and would be hoping to add more to his name this season and help Blackburn achieve its objectives. Rhodes, scored 21 goals, just one fewer that Gestede and the two will continue their race for club’s highest goal scored when the 2015/16 season kick starts on August 8th.  Good things are expected from Blackburn Rovers this season but how will they perform is still too early to judge. Especially considering the fact that the club is far from finishing its transfer business.
