Long term Arsenal target, Jackson Martinez has dampened Arsene Wenger’s plans for this summer’s transfer window after he confirmed that he will be leaving for Atletico Madrid this summer.
The Colombian international was rumoured to be really close to signing a contract with the Gunners from Portuguese outfit FC Porto but soon after Atletico Madrid declared their interest in him, chose to say yes to a move to Vicente Calderon where he will be looking to score goals galore under the guidance of Diego Simeone.
“I can confirm I am going to Atlético,” said Martinez. “I am going there for four years but I still don’t know when I will be introduced.
“I have had great progression, always learning, always growing and now I’m going to Atlético where I hope to help the team and continue to grow as a player.”
The news would come as a huge blow to the Gunners who were confident that they were going to land the lethal striker for next season.
