West Brom have spent the last few months trying to settle a major dispute with striker Peter Odemwingie who made it clear that he wanted to leave The Hawthorns halfway through last season.
Well it seems that the player could finally have an avenue out of the club with newly promoted Crystal Palace reporting their interest in signing the player in the next couple of weeks.
The Eagles are reportedly ready to make a £1.5m bid for the player who is the latest name linked with a move to Selhurst Park.
Whilst West Brom have set a minimum price of £2.5m for the Nigerian international, the club are willing to offload the player for less than that just to get the player off the club’s books as soon as possible.
It’s not the first time Odemwingie has been linked with a move away from West Brom as the player had been set to join QPR in January before the move collapsed at the eleventh hour.
Fulham have also expressed an interest in signing Odemwingie but the London side have yet to launch a formal bid for the player in the last few weeks.
As much as the player’s personal issues had upset the club, he has been one of their key players since joining from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2011.
In the last 3 seasons, Odemwingie has made 87 appearances and has scored 30 goals for the side including a 15 goal haul in his debut season.
But it’s been all downhill from there between the two parties as Odemwingie’s quest for silverware has left him looking for a move to a bigger club.
This has meant that the Nigerian international has become an isolated figure at the club having been given a changing room away from the first team squad and being dropped from the club’s regular starting line-up.
Odemwingie though is just the latest striker to be linked with the playoff winners who have been rapidly in search for some top level players to join their squad.
The Eagles have been linked with a host of different strikers over the last few weeks with the likes of Carlton Cole and Dwight Gayle having been linked with a move in the last few days.
Even though Odemwingie wants to win trophies each season, the situation at West Brom has gone far enough that the player is ready to join any club as soon as possible and Crystal Palace could certainly be in the right place to capitalise on the bad blood between player and club.
