Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker could be set to join up with old boss Harry Redknapp as the Queens Park Rangers begins the rebuilding of his squad as he looks to secure immediate promotion to the Premier League.
After bemoaning the attitude of the superstar squad he inherited last season Redknapp wants to bring in a group of hungry players and sees the 32 year old Parker as the exemplification of those attributes.
The pair enjoyed a good relationship at Spurs but Redknapp will have to convince Parker that he should drop down a division which is was unwilling to do two years ago when West Ham were relegated, Parker wishes to retain a place in the England squad for the World Cup which may be hindered if he chooses to play in the Championship this year.
Parker is keen on a move away from White Hart Lane though as he is aware his role may be limited in the first team this year and Sunderland and Fulham are also interested as Spurs have let it be known that Parker is surplus to requirements as Andre Villas-Boas puts together his team having secured Brazilian international Paulinho already this summer.
The midfield battler dgfev online casino endured a mixed season at the Lilywhites last year after returning to fitness following Achilles surgery and is unlikely to secure a place in the starting team with the arrival of Paulinho and teh return to fitness of Sandro and Mousa Dembélé.
Redknapp must also deal with Joey Barton”s return from his loan spell at Marseille, the 30 year old was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of last season and wants a permanent move to the Ligue 1 side but there are suggestions he will hold out for his contract to be cancelled rather than depend on L”OM to bid on him.
“He wants to go to Marseille and he did very well there last year, but he”s got two years left of his deal here,” Redknapp said yesterday.
“I think he”s looking for the club to give him a payday here and then he”ll go. I don”t know how it”s all going to end.”
Barton has returned to training with the side but like Anton Ferdinand who is returning from a spell in Turkey with Bursaspor, is unlikely to remain at Loftus Road having fallen out with club officials.
Redknapp has already announced the signing of out of contract Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson.
